Terms of service
Last updated 30 August 2026
Album Ranker is a free personal project, offered as it is. Your albums and your rankings stay yours, and you can export any of them at any time. In exchange, there is no uptime promise and no company standing behind it — so keep an export of anything you would be sorry to lose.
What this is
Album Ranker puts a record collection in order by asking you to choose between two albums at a time. It is run by an individual based in Poland as a personal project, free of charge. There is no company, no paid tier, and no sales team — which is the honest context for everything below.
By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not, the remedy is simple: do not use it, and if you already have, export your rankings and write to michal100larczyk@gmail.com to have the account removed.
Your account
Accounts are handled by Clerk. You are responsible for what happens under yours, and for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. You need to be at least 16 to use this app.
One account is one person. You may not share credentials, or sign in on somebody else’s behalf.
How you may use it
Ordinary use is anything the screens let you do. Beyond that, do not:
- try to read, change or delete anybody else’s library, rankings or connections
- use the cover endpoint as a general-purpose image or search proxy — it exists to illustrate albums in this app, and it already refuses requests whose id does not match the artist and title it names
- scrape public ranking pages in bulk, or republish them as if they were yours
- put unlawful, abusive or infringing material in a ranking title, a handle or a pasted album list, all of which can end up on a public page
- send enough traffic to degrade the service for other people, or work around the limits described below
- attempt to break, probe or circumvent the authentication and ownership checks
What stays yours
Your library and your rankings are yours. Nothing here claims ownership of them. The only permission this app takes is the one it needs to run: to store your data, process it, and display it back to you — and, for a ranking you have chosen to make public, to show it to whoever opens the link.
That permission ends when the data does. It is not a licence to do anything else with your rankings, and they will not be used to train anything, sold, or handed to anybody outside the providers named in the privacy policy.
Album metadata and cover artwork belong to their respective owners. Covers are linked from Apple and Deezer rather than copied, and no artwork is stored here.
The connected services, and their limits
Connecting Spotify or Tidal means agreeing to their terms as well as these, and the access you grant is governed by them. Two limits are theirs rather than this app’s, and are worth knowing before you meet them as an unexplained failure:
- Spotify allows five connected accounts in total for an app of this size. Once those are taken, nobody else can connect until a slot frees up.
- Tidal’s collection access is in Beta, on Tidal’s side. It can change or stop working with no notice to anybody here.
Either service may change its API, its terms or its availability at any time. If that breaks a connector, the albums you already imported stay in your library.
Availability, and what happens if it stops
There is no uptime guarantee. This app may be slow, unavailable, changed, or discontinued, at any time and without notice. Features may be added or removed.
If it is going to be shut down for good, reasonable notice will be given where that is practical, so you can export. But treat that as an intention rather than a promise: the reliable protection is the export button, which is on every ranking’s settings page and produces a JSON file this app will import back.
Keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose. This app is built so that deleting a ranking does not destroy it, and that design is real — but it is a safeguard against a misclick, not a backup service, and it does not survive the database going away.
Ending it
You can stop at any time. Write to michal100larczyk@gmail.com and your account and everything attached to it will be removed.
An account may be suspended or removed if it is used in the ways listed under how you may use it, or where keeping it would break the law. Where the circumstances allow it, you will be told and given a chance to export first.
No warranty
This app is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. Nobody promises it is free of bugs, that a ranking reflects any objective truth about music, or that a cover shown next to an album is the right one — the matching is careful, and it is still a guess made by a computer against a catalogue somebody else maintains.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, an individual based in Poland is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this app, or for lost data or lost time.
Some liability cannot be excluded, and this does not try to. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that Polish law does not permit to be excluded. If you are using this as a consumer, the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in apply in full and are untouched by anything written here.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Polish law, and disputes fall to the Polish courts — subject to the paragraph above, which means a consumer keeps whatever rights and forum their own country guarantees them.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top of this page is when they last did. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it, and a change that materially affects you will be flagged in the app rather than quietly edited in here.
The privacy policy describes what is stored and who sees it.
